Figuring out what to wear is the first thing most expecting moms stress about, so let’s make it easy! After years of photographing maternity sessions in Chicopee and across Western Mass, here’s what I tell all my clients.
Show off that bump. Fitted, stretchy fabrics that follow your shape photograph beautifully, and flowing gowns with movement are a favorite, especially in natural light.
Pick colors that feel like you. Soft neutrals, warm earth tones and deep jewel colors all photograph well. Skip busy patterns and big logos, since they pull attention away from you.
Be comfortable. If you’re tugging at your outfit, it shows! Choose fabrics that feel good right now, and bring shoes you can actually stand in.
Plan for your partner and kids. Coordinate, don’t match. If you’re in a bold color, keep everyone else in softer tones from the same palette.
Bring options. I’m always happy to help you choose on the day. Bring two or three outfits, and we’ll decide together what looks best in the light.
